This is an antique country housekeeper's cabinet. An English, oak and elm dresser base, dating to the Georgian period, circa 1800.
Wonderful Georgian cabinetry with appealing proportion
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order
Select oak stocks present fine grain interest
Warm caramel hues accentuate the figuring
Arrangement of two drawers over a pair of wide cabinet doors
Field panelling adds interest to the fascia, with a vanity panel to centre
Each drawer dressed with a pair of brass drop handles over batwing backplates
Drawer boxes crafted from nicely figured elm
Cabinet doors open upon delightful H-shaped butterfly hinges
Each door replete with inset, working locks — key present
Full-width shelf, with heights at 25cm (9.75'') and 23cm (9'') respectively
Tapering lower valence above a quartet of block feet
