This is an antique decorative vanity case. A Japanese, lacquer and Mother of Pearl lidded box, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900.
Highly distinctive example of Japanned taste with eye-catching finish
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good original order
Pleasing lacquered finish to the case with dark brown hues and subtle hints of deep red
Inlaid with shimmering Mother of Pearl decor, accentuated with gilt finish
Fascinating lid presents a trio of inlaid figures catching butterflies
Brightly appointed interior presents a shock of ruby coloured velvet
Cartouche shaped mirror shows a desirable light foxing commensurate with age
