This is an antique dome topped chest. An English, pine and iron bound shipping trunk, dating to the mid Victorian period, circa 1870.
Superb presentation to this distinctive and versatile chest
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good original order
Stained pine presents fine grain interest and deep caramel hues
Bound throughout with cast iron straps, and braced with pine supports
Appealing domed top to the lid, held securely by a pair of hinged clasps
Brass central clasp with inset lock inoperative — key absent
Bright crimson interior offers a generous storage space, cotton lined to lower section
Painted lid section hosts a storage tray and lidded compartment
Dressed with a pair of thick leather handles, set within brass strap keepers
Rides upon a quartet of castors, set to each corner for ease of movement
