Quality Two Tier Dumb Waiter Table - Superb Condition - c1780

This two tier English Georgian dumb waiter table is a lovely example presented in stunning condition and displaying quality throughout with fine inlay.

'Dumb waiters' were used in the 18th century as an adjunct to the dining table - being placed near the table so diners could reach for extra dishes without the requirement of a servant.

A superbly proportioned tripod cabriole base leg set rides on desirable wide inset brass castors.

A tapered and turned column provides support to a circular under-tier which benefits from a pleasing perimeter lip, and offers a useful 59cm (23.2") diameter providing ample space for display and presentation.

Tier two is supported by a further classically understated Georgian English turned column leading to the the upper tier which presents a fine solar burst central cartouche in boxwood and holly.

The piece offers great scope for a variety of uses would make a wonderful lamp, occasional or display table, and of course serves wonderfully as a dumb waiter - perfect to present morning coffee or afternoon tea.

Overall this piece of antique furniture is in superb order with great depth of colour displaying light fine mahogany tones.
