Antique Dummy Board

A very decorative 19th century and possibly earlier painted oak dummy board of a young boy dressed in a blue velvet outfit with lace ruffs and a pink sash wearing stylish boots with elaborate buckles and holding a cane. A very similar example and almost certainly by the same hand sold at Christies Interiors Sale on 24th. May 2017 for £4000. Link below…...
Dummy board figures were thought to have originated in the 17th century and remained very fashionable until the 19th century, they are often life-sized although sometimes smaller and were placed around houses, the figures usually resemble servants, soldiers, children or animals. Dimensions :- Height: 45.5'' / 115.5cm. Width: 20'' / 51cm. Depth: 6.75'' / 17cm. Delivery to most of U.K. mainland £42 ALL TRADE ENQUIRIES WELCOME.
