Antique Edwardian Chaise with High Button Back
This attractive antique chaise dates from c.1910, with later restoration. It has a lovely kidney-shaped sprung seat with rounded arms and high button back. It is supported on mahogany legs with ball and claw feet (one is square as is standard on this type of chaise) terminating in replacement brass castors. The red velvet-type upholstery is later, but does have some age.
Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition with some wear consistent with age and use. It is a little faded. The upholstery has some wear and grubbiness as might be expected, but there are no rips or tears in the fabric. The piece has undergone professional restoration at some point (probably when the upholstery was replaced, around twenty years ago). The chaise is solid, but there is some minimal movement in the joints, especially to the square back leg.
