Antique Edwardian Mahogany Writing Desk c.1910
A fine Edwardian mahogany writing desk with a rich dark brown tooled leather inset writing surface set beneath a raised stationery superstructure fitted with a central open recess and four small drawers, all surmounted by an attractive brass gallery.
Below sit three frieze drawers with original brass ring handles, including fitted stationery divisions to the right-hand drawer, all raised on square tapering legs terminating in original brass castors.
A particularly elegant example of the form, the desk displays careful attention to detail throughout, including fine stringing inlay throughout, along with well chosen mahogany veneers showing pleasing colour and figure. The desk retains a fully finished back, allowing it to stand freely within a room rather than only against a wall.
Very good antique condition with some minor surface wear and an attractive patina. Structurally sound, clean, complete with working key and ready to place in the home.
