Antique English Birdseye Maple Inkstand / Inkwell
A very handsome desk set, the serpentine base made from a solid piece of Mahogany, the top veneered with highly decorative Birds-eye Maple decorated with Ebony and Boxwood stringing.
The two large inkwells are perfect, made from heavy crystal, the collars and hinged lids made from brass. The receptacles for the inkwells are framed in brass as are the two supports for the dip pen. This dip pen came to me with this inkstand, although later than the desk set, it finishes off this desk-top gem.
Dating to the Edwardian era, around 1900/1910. Excellent condition, the wooden base measures 10 1/2" x 7 1/4", each inkwell measures 2 1/4" square and stands 2 7/8" tall.
