A beautiful and unusual serving tray made from solid English Oak with a decorative fan inlay to the centre. The fittings are all made from EPNS, Electro-Plated Nickel Silver in a very simple style with grand handles and a gallery surrounding the tray.

The underside is where the full English makers mark can be found for the silversmith, CHARLES JAMES ALLEN Listed at 7 Hatton Garden, London (1893-1894) and 12 Bartlett's Buildings, London (1897-1900). Active at Portland Works, 55 Arundel St, Sheffield (1898-1912).

Late Victorian in era and dating to around 1890. The tray including the handles spans 24" or 20 1/2" excluding the handles x 12 1/2" x 3" tall.
