Antique French Burl Thuya Jewellery Box c.1910


An extremely smart early twentieth century Jewellery box, perfect for a lady or gentleman and perfect for a traditional or contemporary interior.
The box is made from solid Mahogany and smothered with expensive and burl Thuya, from the root of the tree, this example with premium figuring exhibiting numerous tightly-packed burl eyes. The rich reddish brown colour only comes with age. The box and base are cross-banded with exotic Kingwood and boxwood stringing.
The front of the box has a domed circular wooden escutcheon which houses the working key. The lid lifts and front falls, the front lined in Satinwood. The cantilever trays are revealed with polished brass supports.
Dating to c.1910, it remains in superb condition. 8 1/2" x 6" x 4 5/8" tall.
