This is an antique French style Bonheur Du Jour desk in Kingwood & mahogany, with finely cast gilt bronze mounts, gallery & feet. I would date this to around the 1930’s period & it has just been French polished. Please enlarge all the images, because there are many fine details to be seen. There’s a gilt metal pieced gallery around the top. The three middle drawers all have gilt bronze edges & locks. The tapered fluted legs have gilt mounts within the flutes, plus many more mounts from top to bottom. Even the feet are gilt metal. I particularly like the shaped cross stretchers with the gilt finial on the middle.
