Antique Fully Hallmarked Gold Edwardian Locket
A delightful fully hallmarked 9 carat gold Edwardian locket with splendid ornamentation. Acanthus and ivy leaves adorn the front and back. Acanthus leaves represent immortality. Ivy leaves have symbolised everlasting love, fidelity and deep friendship for hundreds of years. The maker's mark appears to be B.H.J into a chamfered rectangle for B. H. Joseph & Co.
This enchanting Edwardian keepsake pendant was assayed at Chester in 1904. On opening the locket deep recesses and the right hand frame can be seen. This locket can accommodate two portraits or photographs.
All clasps and hinges work perfectly.

We have included an ornate 18 inch chain, so that this locket can be worn immediately.
The bale (hanging ring) is substantial and without a join that can be seen. Where the bale goes through the locket loop it is a little more slender to allow its passage, which is why on image one there appears to be a gap in the bale but there is not.
