Antique German 16" Bisque Shoulder Head Doll
This lovely antique doll dates from approx. 1890. She has a bisque shoulder head, and a kid leather body with leather feet and bisque hands. Unusually her head looks slightly to the right. Moulded into the back of her head is a G and into the bottom of the shoulder plate is 'Made in Germany G'. She has lovely brown glass fixed eyes, an open mouth with upper teeth (some broken), rosy cheeks and painted facial features. She has a modern brown wig. She is wearing a nice outfit, underclothes and shoes that are fairly modern.
Condition Overall in good condition, with some playwear consistent with age and use. She has a hairline crack behind one ear, and as is mentioned above her teeth are chipped with loss at the centre. There are a few small marks to the face and some slight rubbing to the cheeks. There is some glue residue around her wig. She is overall a little grubby and would benefit from a careful clean. Her wig is a little dishevelled. Her kid body is grubby and faded and shows some signs of repair and re-stitching. One of the seams around her foot has come apart. There is some re-stitcing around her leg and bottom joints. Her right-hand arm has been repaired at the elbow and shoulder and her left-hand arm has been repaired at the shoulder. Her clothing is in good condition with some light wear and surface grubbiness. However one of the straps of her dress has come adrift and needs re-stitching.
