Antique Gilt Metal Oil Lamp - Converted & Rewired

This is a beautifully cast gilt metal oil lamp which has been converted to electricity & recently professionally rewired, probably French c.1890.
The acid etched glass font is decorated with a design of flowers and trailing vines and is in excellent condition with no chips or scratches. It is fitted with a brass Evered patent safety lock collar, but our research suggests that the lamp itself is unlikely to be by Evered and Company as their bases were generally made of brass rather than gilt metal. The fluted column projects above an elaborately modelled triangular base with lion's paw feet.
It is in excellent condition with the only flaw being a missing tip to one of the leaves which form a collar at the top of the column. However, this does little to deflect from what is a handsome and impressive lamp.
The first photograph shows it paired with a 30cm (base diameter) coolie shade which we think works well with this lamp. This is an eye-catching lamp of tall and narrow proportions, particularly suitable for a console table or a narrow side table.
Dimensions: Height to shade ring - 59 cm (23 in)
Diameter of glass font - 15 cm (6 in)
Foot to foot width - 21 cm (8 1/4 in).
More photographs are available on request.
Delivery: £15 within the UK. Please contact us for a quote if you require delivery to an overseas destination.
