About as good as they get, this is a truly special silver plated grape dish with double shell shaped bowls with naturalistic supports decorated with vine leaves.

This dish would create a magnificent show on the sideboard or on the dining table, with plump bunches of grapes hanging from each side amongst the vine decorated stand. I have a similar one, which I fill the dish with fruits, nuts and chocolates. The two shell shaped bowls are lavishly gilded.

The underside is fully marked between the shells, signed by the well renowned silversmith, Mappin & Webb. It is lucky enough to have an English design registration number which allows us to date it accurately to 1887.

Superb condition measuring 11 3/4" x 8" x 12 1/2" tall.
