This is an antique Kashgai carpet from South West Persia which dates from the late 19th Century. The carpet has a triple lozenge design and a wonderfully muted colour palette featuring coral, indigo, mid blue and a soft yellow. This is quite finely woven and has a lot of detail including many stylised animals and birds. The carpet has deep triple borders and fringed kelim ends. It has some even wear overall and complete selvedges and ends. The carpet has lots of character and a great antique look to it. It is a good size, measuring 290 cms by 170 cms.
