This is a beautiful and very fine silk carpet which dates from the early 20th century. The carpet from Kashmir in Northern India is woven in silk and on silk and has a very intricate and detailed design, the central field being filled with small daisy like flowerheads. The main shade in the carpet is a wonderful deep burnt orange and it has very pretty raspberry floral borders. The carpet is in excellent order with a good deep pile and is a really good size for a silk Kashmir carpet measuring 185 cms x 123 cms.
