Antique Large Victorian Mahogany Barrel Top Desk


superb Quality Antique Large Victorian Barrel Front Mahogany Pedastal Desk and dating from aorund 1880. Constructed from quality mahogany by A & S Jewell of Holborn London. It has a moulded gallery top above the barrel top with original turned knob handles . The barrel top rolls back to reveal a set of letter racks to the centre above two long slim drawers flanked on either side by four walnut front drawers. The writing surface slides forward and it has its original leather skiver writing panels with the centre panel raising to become a writing slope and the other two open to reveal storage compartment.
each pedasta has three graduating drawers all of which are mahogany lined and with original turned knob handles and they stand on a deep plinth base.
the top removes from the base for ease of transporting.
Measures 46" high to gallery top x 30" to writing surface x 25.5" knee height x 32" deep x 60" wide
In very good condition with a lovely deep colour and patination to the quality mahogany oozing all the charm and character of the period.
