Antique Library Bookcase Cupboard, Carved Oak Victorian Storage Cabinet, c1880

This is an antique, Victorian bookcase cabinet dating to c.1880.

Raised on a shaped plinth base and featuring chamfered, field panel sides, this library bookcase offers two internal fixed waterfall shelves all finished in a deep and rich ruddy waxed polish to the oak.

In pleasing proportion this bookcase is flanked by fabulously carved columns featuring literary busts atop foliate and fruited strands.

The doors are simply and elegantly decorated at the perimeter with a carved guilloché moulding, repeated in the frieze beneath the planked top with carved edge moulding mirroring the plinth decoration at the foot.

Robust, solid joints, delivered waxed polished and ready for the home.
