A delightful antique mahogany inlaid bookcase cupboard with tulipwood crossbanding and boxwood and ebony line inlay of small narrow proportions. This late 19th century Victorian Edwardian cabinet comes in two pieces. The upper glazed display section has a set of three adjustable bookshelves and an everted cornice with dentil moulding detailing. The lower section with two drawers with original turned handles and two doors enclosing a shelved interior. The inside door with the original label stamped MAPLE & CO -LONDON & PARIS. The whole raised on bracket feet with the rear having a lower recessed moulding to allow the piece to elegantly fit over skirting boards and fit snugly against the wall. This 3’ bookcase retains its original locks and two keys. It is in wonderful original condition and has been wax polished to a rich mahogany colour. Circa 1890. Measures 78”h x 19” d x 36”w. Shelf depth to base is 15” and to top is 9.5”.
