This is a very charming miniature watercolour portrait of two sisters dating from the mid 19th century. The sisters are beautifully captured by the artist with engaging blue eyes and flowing golden hair. The elder sister wears a red sash around her dress and the younger has a blue sash. The portrait is set within the original gilt bronze frame which measures 13.5 cms by 10 cms.
