This is an antique nightstand. An English, walnut and marble, pot cupboard or bedside cabinet by Gillow & Co of Lancaster, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1890.

Tastefully appointed and of appealing proportion
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order
Select walnut presents fine grain interest with rich caramel hues
Rojo Alicante marble top offers a charming display surface and cool to the touch

Shaped apron with scroll motif sits above an open display gallery
Attractive ends with shaped edge, accentuated with beaded finish
Field panel cabinet door to lower with strikingly carved foliate arrangement
Door dressed with a brass drop handle upon a foliate shaped backplate

Maker's mark for Gillow & Co of Lancaster resides beneath the marble plinth
Replete with serial number L 20147 and repository label for Brock & Co of Exeter
The whole stands upon shaped bracket feet to each corner with leaf carvings
