This is an antique day bed possibly originating in North Africa.

Raised on splayed legs with iron bracket supports, this hardwood bench features gilded geometric decoration to the scrolled ends in the form of a series of square plates, each with hammered cross detail to a central rosette and complimented by further golden rosette studs set within a panel along the seat rails.

Solidly made in planked hardwood with a dark, handsome, umber finish the seat edges feature decorative, but subtle, iron strapping. Catching the light the golden ends reflect warmth into the lustrous shine of the seat.

Perfect as a window seat, hall bench or bedroom piece this day bed comes waxed, polished and ready for the home.
