This is an Antique Georgian Regency Vernacular Country chair or Primitive chair c1800-20.  A lovely piece with agreat character and patination.  It is raised on straight legs with a H stretcher and an extra rear stretcher.  The back has straigth uprights rounded over at the top with swept arms showing the French influence on our design at this point.  The back has three triple reeded upright supports making the splat which also help us easily date this chair.  The turnings to support the arms are classical urn shaped epitomising the influence of Paladianism and the Greek or Architectural Revival.  A lovely piece with solid seat and good patination.
