A magnificent and showy large box of sarcophagus for made from exotic Rosewood and all over intricate geometric parquetry inlay. The top has a central brass inlaid plaque complimenting the shaped brass escutcheon to the front which houses the working tasselled key.

The box opens to reveal a large tray with various compartments, all re-lined in a hand-marbelled paper creating a fresh and clean interior ready for use. It would make a wonderful antique jewellery box, sewing box or desk-top box. English in origin and dating to the Regency period, c.1820. An impressive large piece measuring 13" x 9 3/4" x 8" tall.
