Antique silver Art Deco wrist watch.
The watch has a Swiss 15-jewel hand-winding movement which is working nicely. It appears that the movement may be a period replacement.
The watch measures 27mm wide excluding the later winding crown and 36mm high excluding the fixed wire lugs. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the case back for London (import mark), 1918 together with a sponsor’s mark for George Stockwell. From 1 June 1907, Stockwells acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items which had to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK assay office before being released for retail. The case is in good condition with just minor marking, nothing serious at all.
The glass lens has one tiny mark but looks good to the naked eye.
The dial is in its original finish with exploding numbers and original hands.
The watch has a vintage leather strap, and it all comes in an antique presentation box from a Glasgow jeweller.
