Antique silver English half hunter pocket watch.
The watch has a stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement was manufactured by the Coventry watch maker the Errington Watch Company as a private label piece. It is signed on the movement with the details of the original retailer, Given Brothers, 28 Gracechurch Street, London, EC. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.
The watch measures 52mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the three covers for Birmingham 1901 with the mark for Charles Errington. Overall the case is in good condition, especially for such an early piece. There is a light 1cm scratch to the front and light surface marks, nothing too serious at all. The hinged case back has the engraved initials of the original owner but they are difficult to read.
The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside, there is a glass lens which is in good condition.
The signed dial has a few hairline cracks as shown in the photo. The hands are pin-set, one of them is a replacement, probably the blued steel hand, as the other is a special half hunter hour hand so the time can be read when the front cover is closed.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
