Antique silver Goliath pocket watch, steam loco

Antique silver Goliath pocket watch, steam loco.
The watch has a 15-jewel stem-winding movement, possibly by Th Picard Fils.
The movement is protected by an inner cover which has various details of the movement. The inside of the cover has various details engraved into it, appears to be in French and it is difficult to read, three dates are legible 18 August 1848, 22 November 1859 and 6 November 1876.
The watch measures 76.5mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is 800 silver and there are Continental hallmarks inside both of the case backs. Nicely decorated bezel, a little unevenness in places but not too detrimental.
The back of the watch has a scene, almost folk art in style, of a steam loco passing over a bridge with a village scene visible in the arch. Some unevenness to the back but again, not too detrimental.
The watch has a glass lens, the main face of which is in good condition with just a couple of minor marks. There is quite a lot of nibbling to the bevelled edge.
The dial has lovely ornate pin-set hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer 24 hour numerals. There is an old repair on number 14, and three very faint short hairlines between 24 and 13.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (excluding Northern Ireland).
Please contact us before placing international orders so that we can advise of shipping prices and to see if customs regulations allow us to post watches to your country.
The international buyer is responsible for paying any import duties and taxes.
All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.
We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.
Credit / debit card purchases can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the \'Buy Securely\' button on each listing page.
We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
