Antique Silver Pocket Watch, 1918
Antique silver pocket watch, 1918.
The watch has a stem-winding movement is working nicely. It is all protected by an inner hinged cover which has a small indentation to the edge.
The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and has hallmarks for Glasgow (import mark), 1918 with a sponsor’s mark for James Weir. James Weir was listed as an importer and also a watch manufacturer, chronometer maker to the Admiralty, jeweller and silversmith with premises in Argyle Street and Buchanan Street, Glasgow. The bezel is in good condition. The side and hinged case back have a little unevenness.
The glass lens is in good condition, just a couple of minor marks but not too noticeable at all.
The signed dial is a period replacement, it is not original to the rest of the watch. The dial is signed with the name of the original retailer, J G Graves of Sheffield. It is in lovely condition.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
