Antique silver Waltham Bartlett pocket watch and chain

Antique silver Waltham Bartlett pocket watch and chain.
The watch has a high grade stem-winding movement, with star wheel regulator and jewelled pallets, which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and the serial number 26,399,583 dates it back to 1927.
The grade was named after Patten Sargeant Bartlett who was one of the early employees of the Boston Watch Company which went on to become the Waltham Watch Company. He subsequently left Waltham to work for the National Watch Company at Elgin Illinois but eventually returned to Waltham to work as a salesman before opening his own wholesale business.
The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the two case backs for Birmingham 1918. The difference in dates suggests that the original movement was replaced as a more economical alternative to a repair.
The case is in good condition and has engine turned detail to the back along with a central cartouch which contains the initials GEP.
The watch glass is in good condition, as is the signed dial with blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.
The watch comes with a single silver chain, 41cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. The chain is hallmarked for 1916. Each of the links on the chain has the lion passant silver mark. The chain weighs 31g.
The watch and chain will be sent in a new presentation box. ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (excluding Northern Ireland).
Please contact us before placing international orders so that we can advise of shipping prices and to see if customs regulations allow us to post watches to your country.
The international buyer is responsible for paying any import duties and taxes.
All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.
We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.
Credit / debit card purchases can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the \'Buy Securely\' button on each listing page.
We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
