An Antique solid brass bulkhead marine ship's barometer.c.1910. Original enamel dial bearing the maker's name, Sestrel and retailer's name, F.Smith & Sons of Southampton(yacht builders).Polished brass case and matching bezel front with thick bevelled glass and reading marker pointer. Good deep shine to case. Full working order. Likely to have been made for a yacht or ship. Measures 8" diameter overall x 3.25"deep. Stock no.35295. Henry Browne & Son used the trademark name 'Sestrel'. Born in Lewis, Sussex in 1842 and died in Barking in 1935. His company became a well-respected English instrument maker, manufacturing and selling fine quality compasses, ship's antique clocks, inclinometers, sextants, and barometers.
