Antique Victorian Birch Rocking Chair c.1890
A stylish late Victorian rocking chair constructed in birch. The deep saddle seat is crafted from solid birch and generously contoured for comfort, below a finely shaped ply back typical of the period, with a pierced starburst motif and delicate swag detailing. The frame is supported by beautifully turned legs and distinctive double bobbin turned stretchers, all set on original birch rockers.
A charming and functional piece with an honest, vernacular presence, it would sit well in a quiet reading corner, bedroom or living space.
Presented in very good antique condition with some attractive aged surface wear and a warm, rich colour throughout. Structurally sound, with a nice old solid repair to one arm where it joins the seatback. Beautifully clean and ready to place in the home.
