Antique William IV Mahogany Hall Chair c.1835

A bold and beautifully carved William IV mahogany hall chair featuring a striking shield back with dramatic scrollwork and crown-like cresting. The richly figured solid mahogany seat is raised on finely carved and turned legs.
Based on a design published in 1826 by George Smith, ‘Upholsterer and Furniture Draughtsman to His Majesty’.
An excellent decorative statement piece for a hallway, landing or bedroom, equally at home as an occasional or accent chair. This handsome example showcases the depth and character typical of early 19th century British craftsmanship.
Presented in very good antique condition with some surface wear and desirable patina, structurally all sound and ready to place in the home.
