Apothecary Case. Early 19thC. Apothecary Case Cabinet %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
This is a fine and beautifully fitted Doctors Apothecary box with medical chemical bottles. It would date to the first half of the 19th century.
The case has compartments for 10 bottles, and the underside of the lid has its original velvet cushion to protect them. 9 of the original bottles remain, and one other of a similar period. The fitted drawer below is sectioned out for utensils and has a removable tray. It retains its original worn velvet lining. There is a wooden handled spatula and glass mixing rod.

The case has all of its original metal fittings - the lock and keeper, inset brass escutcheon and inset brass handle to the drawer. The hinges lock at right angles so when opened the top remains in the upright position. It has its original brass locking rod to secure the drawer when the lid is closed.
Sadly there is no key.

Many of the bottles are labelled and retain their contents. Most are damaged with chips to the rims and stoppers.

Please note, if the case is purchased for export outside of the UK I will have to remove the chemicals and clean the bottles before sending them.
