Armand Marseille 11" Bisque-Head Character Doll
This sweet bisque-head doll dates from c.1910. She has '233 0' moulded into the back of her head. We believe her to be made by Armand Marseille, but SFBJ also used this mold number. She has a bisque head with glass sleeping eyes, and an open mouth with two teeth. She has painted eyelashes and eyebrows. She has a short mohair wig, which is partially loose. She has a five-piece composition bent-limb body. She is wearing a modern dress and underslip, and vintage socks and shoes.
Condition Overall in good condition with some wear consistent with age. There are no visible chips or cracks to her head. She has some scuffs to the paintwork of her head, including to her right-hand cheek and some grubby marks. There is some glue residue around the top of her head, and her wig is dishevelled and has some loss. She has some significant paint loss to her eyelids. Her composition body has some wear and damage. There is some chipping to the top of her body at the front and back and her upper left-hand arm has been repaired with fabric tape at some point. Her body has some scuffs, scratches and marks and there is some chipping to her fingers and toes. Her modern clothing is in good clean condition with some slight wear. Her socks have some discolouration and her shoes are damaged. They are thinned to the surface with some fraying and tearing and one is missing its sole.
