Art Deco 9ct Gold Cuff Links, Payton Pepper, 1947
This is a stylish pair of Art Deco 9ct Gold Cuff Links. The chain linked cuff links are octagonal in shape with engine turned decoration covering the outward facing sides. They come supplied in a modern gift box.
The cuff links were made in Birmingham by Payton, Pepper & Sons and date to 1947. Founded in the 1880s as Payton, Pepper & Co, they became Payton, Pepper & Sons in the mid 1890s. The firm were manufacturing jewellers and silversmiths with premises in Vyse Street in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter. They produced a wide range of jewellery and small silver items for personal use. The company was very successful and remained in business into the 1990s.
Condition is extremely good, with no dings or dents and just the minimal superficial surface wear that you would expect with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
Each octagonal link is 1.6cm by 1.1cm and each pair stretches 2.4cm. The set weighs in at a very respectable 8.7g of solid 9ct Gold.
The cuff links have full sets of hallmarks on the back, which are well struck and clear to read. They show the 9 and .375 stamps for 9ct Gold, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter X for 1947 and the P P Ld makers' mark for Payton, Pepper & Sons Ltd.
Shipping in the UK is £11 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the cuff links.
