Art Deco burr walnut Tallboy chest on chest
This is a wonderfully petite 1930s tallboy. It stands only 56.5 inches high and is super quality. The tallboy is a proper chest on chest. It splits into base and top. The tallboy is made in walnut with burr walnut cupboard doors and drawer fronts. The top has a polished double dome and the cupboard doors open to a large shelved storage area, ideal for bulkier items like bedding. (It could also be used to house a bedroom television or entertainments system!) The back of the cupboard is panelled. There is carved detailing to the crest of the doors and to the chamfered sides of the doors.
The chest of drawers below stand on pretty cabriole legs. The drawers are graduated and are made in the traditional way with dovetail joints as you would expect. The drawers all retain their original Art Deco drawer handles.
This is a beautiful and opulent looking piece. The condition is good. No worm. An old repair to the side of the top - see last photo.
I don't think you will see such a quality and diminutive piece like this for a while. I am also selling the matching bedside separately so do check out my other listings.
The tallboy is 20 inches deep and 31.5 inches wide and 56.5 inches high. The cupboard is 16.5 inches deep and 27 inches wide and 21.5 inches high.
