Art Deco Modernist Mantle Clock by ATO, 1930's

Superb 1930's Art Deco antique clock by the French clock makers ATO . The rosewood casing contrasting against the sycamore blonde wood dial and heavily stylised Art Deco numerals look nothing less than impressive, a clock that can't be mistaken for any other era. There's a little bio below for those interested.Period around 1930/1940. Electromagnetic movement. Works perfectly. Case is in excellent condition and still retains the original instructions inside the door.
About ATO
ATO is short for Hatot (Leon Hatot) Léon Hatot born 22.04.1883 died 11.09.1953. He was a French clock maker and is famous for producing one of the first battery operated antique clocks in the 1920s. He patented the Classic form of pendulum which used a magnet and coils to impulse the pendulum. This is done by the current from the first coil switching a transistor which supplies a larger current to the second coil at the right moment. Lalique supplied some of the glass panels for some of his antique clocks. He used various materials to produce his antique clocks, marble, onyx, bakelite, wood and glass. Most of his clocks are very stylish and Deco and although the original batteries are no longer available to power them - our horologist has adapted the mechanism to take a modern battery. ATO Clocks are now highly sought after world wide.
