This small wash-stand would make a lovely bedside cabinet or small child's desk. It may have originally been a small dressing table as there are old fittings on the back for a mirror, although no mirror is now present. The piece has a shaped back rail and a small drawer beneath the work surface with carved decoration to each side. It is supported on rectangular legs with simple carved decoration to the front of the front legs, and a lower footboard shelf. The wash-stand is constructed from mostly solid oak and we believe it to date from the 1920s/1930s. The drawer has what we believe to be early plastic handles. Further images are available. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected, and the piece is overall slightly faded. It looks as if the wash-stand was painted at some point and has been stripped as there are still areas of paint residue. The top has an area of water damage at the left-hand side. The handles have been moved at some point, leaving small holes where they used to be. There is an area of wood loss to the right-hand corner of the front edge.
