This is a very stylish Art Nouveau 15ct Gold, Sapphire and Seed Pearl Stick Pin from the late 19th or early 20th century. The head of the pin is curled in a sinuous form with the blue sapphire mounted at the front and the seed pearl just to one side creating a very organic feel. It comes supplied in a modern gift box.

As with a lot of antique jewellery from this period, it is below the minimum weight for compulsory hallmarking and is just stamped 15 on the side of the finial to indicate that it is 15ct gold.

Nobody really makes anything in 15ct gold anymore and it was discontinued as a British standard back in 1932, being replaced by 14ct. Very little 15ct gold jewellery was made after 1920.

The stick pin is 5.1cm long and weighs 1.0g.
