Art Nouveau Inlaid Mahogany Elbow Chair
This extraordinary Art Nouveau elbow chair is made of mahogany and inlaid with floral motifs. It has stringing to the latticed back and sides and a bold cut-out below the upholstered back. The square-sectioned legs taper down to shaped feet and it has a webbed and padded seat upholstered in a textured red fabric. It was originally retailed by Bennett Brothers of Birmingham.
It is 56cm wide and 105cm high.
The frame is in good, solid and original condition with old knocks in keeping with its age. There are areas where the grain filler has whitened with time but these are not significant and there is a slight unevenness to the level of one leg that rights itself when the chair is sat on. It has been newly reupholstered.
