Art Nouveau Silver Plated Belt c.1900-1910

An absolutely classic Art Nouveau silver plated belt from the start of the 20th century. These belts, nearly always in silver plate because it was much more hard wearing but just occasionally in solid silver, are often referred to as Nurse's Belts as they were traditionally given as gifts to nurses when they qualified. However they were also worn by many women purely as decorative accessories.
The design is pure Art Nouveau with a central daisy type flower surrounded by organic decoration with a single larger panel of the same design at the front. The clasp is a simple "hook and eye" type but keeps the belt securely in place.
Condition is generally very good with just a couple of tiny spots of plate loss, which really don't detract from the beauty of the item. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The belt is 25.5" or 65cm in length and weighs 130g.
There is no specific makers' mark but each piece is stamped EPNS with a star to one side and a cross to the other, which are common symbols of good quality English silver plate.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
Overseas customers, please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
