Art Nouveau Silver Plated Salt Spoon, c.1900-1910

A very striking Art Nouveau silver plated salt spoon from the start of the 20th Century. The spoon is made by Daniel & Arter in Birmingham and dates to around 1900-1910. Thomas Daniel & Thomas Arter founded their electroplating firm in around 1880. They quickly became established as providers of the very best quality silver plated wares and opened London showrooms in Holborn Viaduct and Hatton Garden. The firm closed down in the 1930s.
This salt spoon is in a very distinctive Art Nouveau style with flowing organic lines, which places it firmly in the early years of the 20th century.
Usually silver plated salt spoons deteriorate very quickly as the salt attacks the silver plating to reveal the base metal beneath. This spoon is in remarkably good condition with no plate loss or salt corrosion. We can only assume that it has either been extremely well looked after or had very little use for the last 100 plus years.
The spoon is 8.1cm long and weighs 7.2g. It is stamped on the back with the D&A mark of Daniel & Arter.
Shipping in the UK is £4.50 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
