Art Nouveau Silver Plated Serving Dish, c.1913-20
Here we have an elegant & stylish Art Nouveau Silver Plated Three Part Hors D'Oeuvres serving dish. The dish is of an organic form with the three bowl sections shaped as flowers and a wavy arched handle.
This is a versatile piece that could be used for assorted snacks, for canapes, for dips and chips, for olives, for sauces or whatever suits your needs.
The serving dish is made by Atkin Brothers of Sheffield and was retailed by Manoah Rhodes & Sons of Bradford. It dates to the period between 1913 and around 1920. Atkin Brothers is a famous Sheffield firm of silversmiths and electroplaters. Founded by Thomas Law around 1750, they became Atkin Brothers in the 1850s and remained in business up until the 1950s.
Condition is good with just a very small patch of plate loss in one bowl section. There are no dings or dents. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The serving dish is of a good practical size, measuring 27cm / 10.6ins from front to back, 26.5cm / 10.4ins across and standing 8cm / 3.1ins high. It weighs 695g / 24.5oz.
The marks on the underside of the rim show Atkin Brothers trademark of a hand clutching three ostrich feathers, the retail stamp for Manoah Rhodes & Sons Ltd of Bradford and the registered design number 611282, showing that the original design was registered in 1912/13.
Shipping in the UK is £6.50 by Evri (Hermes) tracked & signed courier.
