Here we have a superb quality Art Nouveau Vase by Eliza Simmance for Doulton Lambeth, dating to around the 1890s. The vase is of baluster form with a long neck rising to a broad fluted rim. It is beautifully decorated with a spray of large blue flowers on blue green foliage against a mottled brown background. An abstract pattern in cream decorates the foot.

Eliza Simmance was one of Doulton's most accomplished and longest serving artists, her career spanning 55 years from 1873 to 1928. She was at the forefront of Doulton's evolution from Victorian Gothic through Art Nouveau to Art Deco. She started working alongside the Barlow family but by 1880 was sufficiently regarded to have here own team within the Doulton Lambeth set up. Her work is always exceptional and this exquisite Art Nouveau vase is a perfect demonstration of her artistry.

Condition is extremely good, with no chips or cracks. This really does look as gorgeous today as it did when it was made over 120 years ago. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The vase stands 27cm / 10.6ins high and is 8.3cm / 3.2ins in diameter at its widest point. It weighs 654g / 23oz.

The base bears the Doulton Lambeth mark alongside the ES monogram for Eliza Simmance and the AMB monogram for August M. Birnie, who was part of her team during this period.
