MEWS ANTIQUES
ANTIQUE VICTORIAN LIBERTY BOBBIN TURNED CORNER CHAIR
This is a lovely example of a Liberty designed corner chair c1880-1900. It would have originally had a rush seat but it has been replaced by a lovely woven rattan seat atleast 75 years ago. The design can be seen on page on see page 103 (top right) of Daryl Bennett's Book "Liberty's Furniture 1875-1915". It is in good condition and a lovely thing. Bobbin turning was re-intorduced orignally by Ernest Gimson in his bobbin turned sofa at Cheltenham Museum and slightly later by William Morris with the sussex chair. Liberty took this concept later in the 1880s originally and produced this lovely design.
it is
26 1/4 inches high
16 1/4 inches deep
16 1/4 inches wide
seat height 14 inches
