We are delighted to offer for sale this large, rare and unusual Arts and Crafts Movement Floor Standing Gong and Stand in beaten copper, with Burmese brass gong, which we attribute to J. & F. Pool of Hayle, Cornwall.

The gong stand is made of wood covered with beaten copper sheets and each side support narrows towards the top, where they are joined by a shaped cross piece, with tulip decoration. At the base of each support, there are four beaten, curved copper additions. The side supports also have an Art Nouveau tulip motif and have large square overlapping terminals. The cross piece supports two holders for the original, copper handled beater.

The stepped base of the gong stand also has a central tulip motif and has an iron base over wood, the whole visible surface covered in beaten copper sheets.

The gong itself is solid brass and is stamped BURMESE under a figurative motif.
