Arts & Crafts Cotswold School Oak Bedroom Suite

A stylish Arts & Crafts Cotswold School solid quarter-sawn golden oak dressing table and chest of drawers attributed to Bath Cabinet Makers. Dating to c.1920 and of very good quality they feature carved chevron borders to the frieze with square mouldings to the corners, unusual turned ebonised handles and canted angles to the legs with notches forming the feet.
The dressing table with bevelled glass easel mirror on an oak back and supports above four short drawers and with impressed numbers to the rear, the chest with three long graduated drawers. Each with a low gallery back, locks and brass keyhole liners to all the drawers and supplied with keys. In good condition with minor signs of age & use and sympathetically cleaned & polished by hand using traditional materials.
Bath Cabinet Makers were established in Bath in 1892 by Charles & Henry Richter. By the early 20th century they were supplying bedroom suites to Heal’s of London, making antique furniture for luxury liners and hotels including the state rooms of RMS Queen Mary, and Claridges Hotel. They had a showroom in London and also exhibited at the 1925 Paris International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts. In addition to their high quality Arts & Crafts furniture they are known for their Art Deco designs.
