Arts & Crafts Oak Double Wardrobe

A very well made, and in excellent condition, Arts & Crafts solid oak double wardrobe by the highly regarded Sheffield cabinet making firm Johnson & Appleyard.
The top has a moulded cornice over a pair of panelled doors enclosing hanging attachments made by John Watts of Sheffield. The hangers are robustly built with a steel frame and runners, and aluminium wide shoulder hangers. They slide left and right across a top track and they also slide forward for easy access, with each hanger having a bar for trousers and a central hook that a standard size coat hanger could be hung for extra storage. The base has two short drawers over two long drawers with the original brass handles, and stands on a plinth base.
The wardrobe is in excellent condition, no breaks or repairs, has a good colour, very little wear to the drawers and they all run well. A brass ball catch has been fitted to the door as the latch and lock is not working. There is slight scuffing to the extreme corners of the cornice.
201cmH x 111cmW x 63cmD
Internal depth 52cm Our stock items are carefully selected by myself and I only buy good quality items which may need small repairs, a clean and a polish. I don't buy any items that need major restoration, but any loose joints are re-glued. Occasionally, some items may have small amounts of historic extinct woodworm, never enough to affect the integrity of the item, and is always treated as a matter of course. We try to describe and show our items the best we can, and we use studio lighting which sometimes lightens the colour slightly on some of the furniture. All lamps are rewired and PAT tested. Every item we sell we would have in our home (some of them have been!!) It is impossible to describe every item fully, so please feel free to email or call for more information or any queries you may have. The items will have no major defects but will show signs of normal age related wear and use. I would prefer the items to show its life rather than strip it and re-polish it, as it's only original once!
