Arts & Crafts Satinwood Occasional Table

An Arts & Crafts Moorish influenced solid satinwood two tier rectangular occasional table of rare design, circa 1900. Decorative stick and ball lattice work panels which are stylistically similar to mashrabiya patterns are supported between the gently splayed square cross section legs beneath each of the short ends of the moulded top and evoke the elegance and craftsmanship of traditional Islamic architecture. The top is also supported by shaped and reeded brackets that connect the four corners to the legs.
Possibly retailed by Liberty & Co the stick and ball decorative scheme was used by Arts and Crafts furniture designer Leonard Francis Wyburd (1865-1958) who was the head of Liberty's Furnishing and Decoration Studio from its foundation in 1883 until he left in 1903.
Dimensions: Height 60.5 cm, Width 71.5 cm, Depth 45.5 cm
Condition: Very good antique condition. Gently cleaned and repolished in our workshop, retaining some marks commensurate with age. Robust table with all joints firm. No damage and no losses.
Delivery: This table can be delivered to most places on mainland England and Wales for £60. Please contact us with your postcode to confirm the delivery charge.
